That’s Everything off to the Publishers!

Phew! It is done! That’s everything off to the publishers for my new craft book. The finished projects were shipped a few weeks ago and today I’ve sent off the completed manuscript and illustrations. Oh, and my author’s photo. I’ve been quite happily hiding behind the PC all these months, apart from the odd not very good photo which I put on hard to find pages! I can be a bit shy and never seem to have any decent photos of myself. However, I needed to get a professional pic of myself for the book. This was the bit I was dreading but I was pleasantly surprised at just how much fun it was doing a ‘photo shoot’. I’ve got a few different shots of me and my bags, which I’ll let you see when the photographer sends them on to me. For now though, here’s what will be my ‘author’s photo’…

Susan Dunlop of SusieDDesigns

So, this is me with a few of my bags which have been featured in Sewing World magazine.

I have Michael Graham, of The Studio – Penicuik, to thank for doing the fantastic photography for me, thanks Michael. I’m looking forward to showing off the rest of the photos. I’ll also be getting Michael to do all the new product shots of my bags and accessories, especially for the new printed patterns range I’ll be launching early next year. Watch this space!

  1. I work in graphic design and photography, I know what a relief it is to send something off. Congratulations. I look forward to keeping up with your post. Good luck with your book.

  2. Lovely to see you Susie, I wish you all the very best for your new project! Plus, it is actually really helpful to see the bags next to yourself as I could then better judge just how big they are. What is the name of the bag to your right in the pic?

    1. Hi Pru, thank you so much. That’s so sweet of you. Yes, it definitely helps to get a sense of the bag sizes. The bag to the right is the Nottinghill Handbag, featured in the November issue of Sewing World magazine and soon to be available from my Etsy shop.

  3. Congratulations, Susan. Wow, all ready for the publisher – what a great achievement. And your author’s photo is lovely, especially surrounded by your beautiful creations. Looking forward to the finished product. Have a wonderful Christmas. Theresa xx

  4. Well done, it must be such a relief to get everything done and sent off. I’m only just over half way on my book. But hoping to be done by Feb. Great author’s pic too, I’m dreading that bit tried to convince them there should be an illustration me instead bit they didn’t go for it!

    1. Hi Fiona, thanks so much! Yep, it was a huge relief to get it all off. Just need to wait on all the editing now and hope I don’t have too much revision to do. I hope all’s going well with your book writing. Can’t wait for it to hit the shops!

  5. Great photo and I’m excited for you. Can’t wait for your book to be out on the shelves. Merry Christmas to you and yours and a Happy New Year
